What is the hybrid open access model?
The hybrid model is a mixed revenue model in which authors of accepted articles are given with the choice to pay an article processing charge (APC) in order to make their article to be made open access immediately upon publication. Hybrid open access model offer authors the choice of publishing their work either through subscription OR open access mode. In Hybrid Model, the authors will have two options: to pay a publication charge and make their article open access OR not to pay the publication charge.
What is Open Online model ?
Open Online is our hybrid Open Access model, in which Open Access articles appear alongside non-Open Access articles. Open Online is made possible because the author, or their funder, pays a APC to make the paper free to access. In hybrid open access model, authors will be given an option to make their article open access after it has been subject to peer review and accepted for publication.
What are advantages of Open Online model ?
Advantages of Open Online model for the authors is that their articles may receive high visibility and usage, more citations, more readers and valuable feedback from research community.
How will readers know which articles are available open access?
Open access articles will be clearly marked with the superscript " Open Online " on the article itself.
How will you ensure that the payment of publication charges by authors has no influence on whether an article is accepted for publication?
All articles are treated in the same way as they go through the journal's process of editorial consideration and peer review.
Who retains copyright of the open access articles?
Authors of Open Online articles are permitted to post the final, published PDF of their article on a website, institutional repository or other free public server, immediately on publication, the copyright remains solely with the author(s) of the paper.
In case of articles published where authors have opted for non-payment of APC, the copyright of article will remain solely with the publisher. Authors are allowed to post their accepted article in any post/blog/forum/post/website until the completion of embargo period.
What is embargo period of journal ?
In order to defray the cost associated publication of journals, the articles published via the traditional, subscription-based model will not be freely available which is termed as embargo period. During embargo period, costs associated with the publication of articles are covered by the revenue generated through pay-per-article system.
When can authors post their articles ?
Authors can post their accepted manuscripts at the end of an embargo period of 12 months following official publication or later, by placing them on personal websites, subject or institutional repositories. We wish to make all subscription content freely available online 18 months after publication.
At present, we are following a traditional editorial workflow in which all the submitted articles are processed in accordance with journals publication process and accepted articles are collated into archival issues. From Vol-2: No-3: 2014 on wards we are moving to Continuous Publication model.
What is Continuous Publication model ?
In Continuous Publication model, the articles accepted for publication are published in their final form as soon as they are ready instead of waiting for complete issues.
Why are we switching to Continuous Publication model ?
Journal der Pharmazie Forschung is an online open access journal and hence the editorial team feels there is no need to wait for the issue building because unlike print, we don't need to gather articles together until a time when they can all be published at once.
What are the advantages of Continuous Publication model ?
We moved to Continuous Publication model to minimize the (often long) delay between First-on-Online and issue publication. Continuous Publication model ensures faster publication of articles for authors, fast accessibility of accepted articles for readers, researchers will have full citation details available to them immediately as soon as their articles are accepted for publication and each day there is new content on journal website.
Our journal website will now be updated regularly with the latest articles and we will continue to collate published articles into archival "issues" (4 issues per year) regularly.
